The Role
We’re seeking an experienced Auto Total Loss Staff Appraiser to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll apply deep automotive valuation and appraisal expertise to negotiate and drive stronger claim outcomes across our platform. You’ll review vehicle valuations, assess total loss and related claim scenarios, identify opportunities to improve settlement accuracy, and partner closely with operations, product, and engineering to shape smarter workflows and tooling.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strong appraisal judgment with a practical, systems-oriented mindset and is excited to help modernize claims operations through technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate vehicle appraisals, valuations, and supporting documentation for automotive total loss claims
- Apply expertise in negotiating, ACV, market valuation, comparable vehicle analysis, condition adjustments, and appraisal methodology
- Partner with claims specialists and other internal teams to support dispute resolution and negotiation strategy
- Identify patterns in carrier valuations and help develop operational strategies
- Utilize our platform and internal tools to document findings, track outcomes, and drive process improvements
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to refine appraisal workflows, valuation logic, and decision-support tools
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with carriers, adjusters, appraisers, and third-party administrators
Required Qualifications
- Active adjuster and/or appraiser license required
- 3+ years of experience in automotive claims, vehicle appraisal, or total loss valuation
- Strong expertise in a mix of:
- Automotive appraisal
- Total loss valuation review
- ACV (Actual Cash Value) methodology
- Comparable vehicle and market analysis
- Condition adjustments and valuation dispute support
- Clear understanding of valuation reports, carrier appraisal processes, and common methodologies used in auto claims
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent judgment and attention to detail
- Comfort working with technology and learning new systems quickly
- Awareness of state-specific insurance regulations and compliance requirements relevant to vehicle appraisal and claims handling
Preferred Qualifications
- Public adjuster license
- Experience working directly with insurance carriers, TPAs, or lenders in an appraisal or valuation capacity
- Familiarity with claims management systems, valuation tools, and automation platforms
- Experience supporting appraisal disputes, supplements, or settlement negotiations
- Background in insurtech or technology-forward operations

Role Requirements
- Travel: Up to 25% travel required, which may include office meetings, onboarding, and other in person functions.
- Schedule: This is a dynamic environment and may require flexibility beyond traditional 9–5 hours. You’ll need to adapt to varying time zones and urgent claim deadlines
