Property Tax Appeals Advisor (New Jersey)

Hourly (Contract-Based): $75–$100/hour

Abode Money is a fast-growing technology company focused on helping homeowners save on the financial aspects of homeownership. With tens of thousands of homeowners already on our platform, we are expanding into New Jersey and are seeking an experienced Property Tax Advisor to guide our team through regulatory and operational requirements.

This contract-based, hourly consulting role is perfect for an expert in New Jersey’s property tax protest system who can serve as a trusted advisor during our early-phase market entry.

For those interested, there’s potential for this engagement to evolve into a mutually beneficial partnership to help us build out our property tax product in New Jersey. We are currently partnered with leading home financial services companies including USAA, Lemonade, Compass, Nerdwallet, CreditKarma, Monarch Money, Consumer Reports, Thumbtack, and others.

What You’ll Do

As our Property Tax Appeals Advisor, you’ll support the Abode Money team by providing:

  • Regulatory Insight: Clarify state statutes, administrative processes, and compliance obligations for property tax protests.

  • County-Specific Knowledge: Advise on local nuances and requirements for major counties throughout New Jersey.

  • Filing Processes: Guide us on when and how to file petitions (TRIM notices, deadlines, evidence, etc.), including both online and paper submission requirements.

  • Hearing Procedures: Share insights and best practices for preparing and navigating protest hearings.

Who We’re Looking For

You’re an ideal fit if you:

  • Have direct experience in New Jersey’s property tax ecosystem, whether through your own practice, as part of a firm, or within local government.

  • Are deeply familiar with county-specific procedures, deadlines, and rules, especially in New Jersey’s five largest counties.

  • Are an innovative thinker, able to find new approaches while fully adhering to local guidelines.

  • Are available to consult with our team on an as-needed, hourly basis via phone or Zoom.

Why This Role Matters

We’re on a mission to make homeownership more affordable. Your expertise will play a critical role in helping us expand into New Jersey smoothly and compliantly, ensuring a strong foundation for our property tax solutions.

This is a flexible, high-impact opportunity to contribute your expertise—without requiring a full-time commitment.
