Property Tax Appeals Consultant (Illinois – Cook County)
Hourly (Contract-Based): $75–$100/hour
Abode Money is a fast-growing technology company committed to helping homeowners save on the financial aspects of homeownership. With tens of thousands of users on our platform, we are expanding into Illinois—specifically Cook County—and are seeking an experienced Property Tax Advisor to guide our team through the regulatory and operational landscape.
This is an hourly, contract-based consulting role—ideal for an expert in Illinois’ property tax protest system who can serve as a trusted guide during the initial stages of our market entry. There is potential for this opportunity to evolve into a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership as we expand our property tax solutions in Illinois. We proudly partner with leading home financial services organizations including USAA, Lemonade, Compass, Nerdwallet, CreditKarma, Monarch Money, Consumer Reports, Thumbtack, and more.
What You’ll Do
As our advisor, you will collaborate with the Abode Money team by providing:
Regulatory Insight: Clarifying Illinois statutes, administrative processes, and compliance obligations for property tax protests.
County-Specific Knowledge: Advising on local nuances for major counties, with a focus on Cook County.
Filing Processes: Guiding us through how and when to file petitions (e.g., TRIM notices, deadlines, evidence), and explaining requirements for online vs. paper submissions.
Hearing Procedures: Sharing best practices on the hearing process and effective protest preparation.
Who We’re Looking For
You’re an excellent fit if you:
Have direct experience in Illinois’ property tax system—through your own practice, an established firm, or a government office.
Possess deep knowledge of county-level procedures, deadlines, and regulations, especially for Cook County.
Are an innovative thinker who combines creative problem-solving with a strong commitment to regulatory compliance.
Are available to consult on an as-needed, hourly basis via phone or Zoom.
Why This Role Matters
Our mission is to make homeownership more affordable. Your expertise will be crucial in helping us expand into new states responsibly and efficiently, ensuring we maintain a strong, compliant foundation.
This is a flexible, high-impact opportunity to contribute your expertise without requiring a full-time commitment.
