Property Tax Appeals Consultant (California)

Hourly (Contract-Based): $75–$100/hour

Abode Money is a rapidly growing technology company dedicated to helping homeowners save on the financial aspects of homeownership. With tens of thousands of homeowners already on our platform, we are expanding into California and seeking an experienced Property Tax Advisor to guide our team through regulatory and operational requirements.

This contract-based, hourly consulting position is ideal for someone with deep expertise in California’s property tax protest system who can serve as a trusted advisor during our early market entry. There is also potential for this opportunity to evolve into a mutually beneficial partnership as we expand our property tax offering in California. We proudly partner with leading home financial services companies, including USAA, Lemonade, Compass, Nerdwallet, CreditKarma, Monarch Money, Consumer Reports, Thumbtack, and more.

What You’ll Do

As our Property Tax Appeals Consultant, you will support Abode Money’s team by providing:

• Regulatory Insight: Clarify state statutes, administrative processes, and compliance obligations for property tax protests.

• County-Specific Knowledge: Advise on unique procedures and nuances for major California counties.

• Filing Processes: Guide us on when and how to file petitions (TRIM notices, deadlines, evidence requirements), including online versus paper submission protocols.

• Hearing Procedures: Share best practices and insights on hearing preparation and protest strategy.

Who We’re Looking For

You are an ideal fit if you:

• Have direct experience in the California property tax system—through your own practice, as part of a firm, or within a local government agency.

• Are deeply familiar with county-specific procedures, deadlines, and rules, especially for California’s five largest counties.

• Possess an innovative mindset—ready to find creative solutions while strictly adhering to all relevant guidelines.

• Are available to consult on an as-needed, hourly basis via phone or Zoom.
